Applicants must hold charitable status and demonstrate current ownership or management of at least 20 units within Nova Scotia. Required documentation includes three-year financial statements audited under Canadian accounting standards and confirmation of compliance with the Residential Tenancies Act. Projects proposing new units receive lower priority than those that extend affordability periods on existing properties through capital repairs.

Review criteria focus on whether expansions maintain the province's target of 30 percent rent-geared-to-income units across the portfolio.
