Existing facilities are concentrated in the Annapolis Valley and Cape Breton, distant from planned interconnection points. These factors raise per-trainee costs above national averages and slow the pace at which contractors can meet federal renewable targets.
Funding can address the gap by equipping two existing marine campuses with simulators and by covering instructor travel between Halifax and Port Hawkesbury. Applicants must submit schedules that synchronize training cycles with vessel mobilization windows and include letters from transmission operators confirming intake numbers. Metrics track the percentage of certified workers assigned to projects inside Nova Scotia waters rather than exported to neighboring jurisdictions.
Unlike New Brunswick proposals that emphasize bilingual manufacturing credentials, Nova Scotia applications must demonstrate integration with federal offshore wind leasing timelines and port infrastructure schedules.
